Faith Formation
Our Mission Statement
Led by the Spirit, faith formation at Redeemer flows from the Sunday liturgy. It embraces all ages and generations, and supports the key role of the home in nurturing faith. Through catechesis and faith-sharing, we as individuals and as a community are formed to live as the Body of Christ in our world. We are given opportunities to hear and respond to God’s ongoing invitation to deeper faith.
FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS AT REDEEMER
Programs for parishioners ages 3 to adult.
Adults - ADULT FAITH FORMATION (AFF) "The Catholic bishops of the United States call the Church in our country to a renewed commitment to Adult Faith Formation positioning it at the heart of our catechetical vision and practice." (Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us -- USCCB, 1999) Find out what AFF is all about!
Preschool/Kindergarten - Classes for ages 3 through kindergarten meet during the Liturgy of the Word at Saturday and Sunday Masses from September to May.
Elementary (Grades 1 - 5) - Classes are offered Mondays, 6:00-7:15, and Wednesdays, 4:00-5:15, beginning in late September and ending in early May. A home-school option is also available.
Youth (Grades 6 - 12) - Through social time, large group catechesis and grade level small group discussions we offer an exciting and interactive program for our youth. Classes are offered on Sundays, 11:30-1:30 and 6:00-8:00, beginning in late September.
Confirmation - Confirmation preparation is open to any youth who are at least 15 years of age and entering the 10th grade.
G.I.F.T. (Growing In Faith Together) - In response to the vision of faith formation in numerous Church documents in recent years, Redeemer has embraced a “whole community” or “whole church” model of faith formation. GIFT aims to promote lifelong faith formation by offering an opportunity for all of us to come together to grow in our faith. For additional information about GIFT, see the “GIFT FAQ’s” in this link.
F.I.R.E. / Generations of Faith - These family-centered programs include adults and children of all ages, meeting twice a month with a small group of other families to learn and share faith (and fun!) together.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Programs are offered in preparation for Infant Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation, Marriage, and Christian Initiation of Children, Youth and Adults.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to leave the assembly for their own liturgy of the word at weekend Masses. They are dismissed after the opening prayer, and return during the offertory song.
For more information, or to register for any of these programs, please call Terry Colville, Minister of Religious Education, at 746-4911, ext. 2214.
We welcome your presence and support. Our young people are wonderful, spirited, and provide a continual opportunity for our own renewal as well. Please think about sharing your time and talents with our formation programs. We need everyone to help in some way - we will provide training!
